Our School

A very warm welcome to Rosedale Abbey Community Primary School.

Rosedale Abbey Community Primary School is a unique and creative environment which has served the local community since 1875.

We are a small village school which prides itself on creating a happy, caring, family atmosphere where everyone is encouraged and inspired to achieve their full potential, develop a love of learning and to be a focussed and resilient learner.

Our children lie at the heart of everything we do and every decision within the school is made by firstly considering what is in the best interest of our children.

We recognise that strong self-esteem is essential in enabling our children to lead happy and successful futures and we aim to ensure that our pupils leave us as caring, happy, confident and adaptable young people, equipped with good academic skills, an enthusiasm and a passion to be 'life-long' learners.

Please take the time to browse our site and find out more about our lovely school. You are more than welcome to visit us and meet our friendly children and staff.

We look forward to welcoming you to our special school and working with you and your child.

Rosedale Abbey Community Primary School was opened on July 12th 1875. It is housed in a spacious, Victorian, two-storey stone building, which was constructed in 1874 as a 'Lecture Hall' and dormitories for the Ferrybridge Ironstone Company.

Class One (Nursery - Year 1) is on the ground floor, together with cloakrooms, toilets and the S

chool Office.

Class Two (Year 2 - Year 6) is in the upstairs classroom, part of which is a professionally lit stage. It is also our dining room, assembly hall and gym

We have a main playground, which is used for playtimes and P.E. and a fenced Outdoor Provision for Class One.

In addition we have the use of the local campsite adventure playground and the Milburn Field, a huge space, for PE, Outdoor Adventurous Activities and Forest Schools.
