Welcome to Rosedale Abbey

Community Primary School & Nursery

Rosedale Abbey Community Primary School lies in the centre of Rosedale Abbey village and is at the heart of the local community. We admit on children from 3 years of age (Nursery 2) to 11 years of age (Year 6).

As a North Yorkshire school we are proud to be educationally, emotionally and economically attached to our local community, but our sights are always set on wider horizons!

Our immediate environment is one of our most precious resources. We take every opportunity to get ‘out and about’ in the village, into our school garden, along the footpaths, over the fields, into the woods, onto the moors and, most especially, into our dedicated Forest School area beside the River Seven.

We also have quite a bit of fun rounding up our small flock of free-range laying hens at home time each day!

Rosedale Abbey CP School is federated with Nawton Community Primary School.

Presently, our federation consists of two vibrant, creative and supportive primary schools situated some twelve miles apart.

Both our schools have long and proud histories in serving our communities.

We are both unique and that is what makes us special.

Both schools have been judged by OfSTED as good (with some outstanding features).

We first began collaborating in 2010 with a clear vision of:

  • raising aspirations

  • developing strong communities

  • valuing the diversity of each individual school

Two years later, we consulted our communities and then chose to formally federate.

Our vision, to raise our aspirations, develop strong communities and value our diversity, still holds true today as we move forward into the next chapter of our development.

The Federation prides itself on providing a friendly, caring, family environment within which all children can flourish.

We offer children the best learning environments, the best teachers and the best support to enable every child to aim high and to reach their potential.

We really do believe that we work 'better together'.

  • Staff work together - improving practice and developing partnerships;

  • Children work together - improving learning and building relationships;

  • Our budget is brought together - improving resources and best value;

  • Leadership works together - improving opportunities and outcomes for children;

  • We are constantly challenging ourselves and each other through the networks we have built between us, but also with other schools;

  • We learn from each other's strengths and support each other with areas for development;

  • We are constantly striving for excellence, securing high levels of achievement and providing outstanding opportunities for all our children.

Don't take our word for it!

        Our children are our best ambassadors.

                Why not come and meet them?

                        They would be delighted to tell you about their school and their Federation.
