Admissions

Our school's ‘catchment’ area includes the village of Rosedale Abbey itself, Rosedale East and West, Thorgill, Hartoft, Blakey and the surrounding rural area. We have traditionally drawn from a much wider area including Pickering, Hutton le Hole, Spaunton,  Stape and Wrelton. We are happy to accept applications from beyond our normal 'catchment' when we have vacancies within classes or year groups.

Admission to Primary School (Reception to Y6 - main school)

Children must, by law, start school at the beginning of the term following their 5th birthday unless they are being home educated. Most will start school in the September of the academic year (1st September – 31st August) in which their 5th birthday falls.

Starting school is a very important milestone in your child's life, and we want to make sure everything goes well from the beginning. The school day is a long one and children find it very tiring at first.

All applications for admission to 'main school' should be made through the Local Authority.

Admission to our Nursery EYFS Class

Families wishing to apply for admission to Nursery 2 places should apply directly to the school. The school deals directly with Nursery admissions but we do still follow the NYCC criteria.
